★ Process Overview

When castings won’t cut it,
you forge.

Forging deforms heated or cold metal under high compressive force to produce parts with continuous grain flow aligned to the part’s geometry. The result: 20-30% higher fatigue strength than equivalent castings.

Magnus partners with 50+ Indian forging plants ranging from 50-ton drop hammers to 8,000-ton press lines. We’ve shipped over 6 million forged components for automotive crankshafts, agricultural shafts, oil & gas flanges, railway couplings.

★ Frequently Asked

Questions,
answered.

Forging vs casting — when do you choose forging?
Choose forging for cyclic/impact loading, safety-critical applications, or maximum strength-to-weight. 20-30% higher fatigue strength but 30-60% more expensive per part.
Closed-die vs open-die forging?
Closed-die shapes metal between two engraved dies — near-net-shape, tight tolerances. Open-die hammers between flat dies — for very large parts and low volumes.
What heat treatments do you offer?
Normalising, annealing, quench & temper, induction hardening, carburising, nitriding — all in-house at most suppliers.
How does India compare to China for forging?
India is world’s 2nd largest forging producer. For most carbon/alloy steel forgings, India is 5-12% cheaper than China on landed cost.
